From PDX to NOMPTON and back to PDizzle...

What it do my ninjas! Please let me first start by apologizing to our visitors for our brief hiatus from our beloved blog. We all know you have been itching to see videos and what has been going on with the NomNomNompton boys. We have been quite busy and things have been chaotic but rest assured we've documented every moment of our interesting lives whether it be in L.A., NYC, PDX, Dallas or back home. But.....

Here's the scoop. I made a surprise visit to Nompton on August 2nd. It had been a month of me being banished to Portland before returning home for a visit. This trip turned out to be an exciting and successful surprise for everyone. No one knew I was flying into Oklahoma. Everyone believed that I wasn't to return until September. Little did they know, I was on a jet plane back to the flat, humid, hot but charming little state of Okiehoma, where you will find tipped cattle and horse carriages on the highways. I had my cousin swoop me up from the airport to drive me 20 miles to my front door. Of course, this is after I treated him to a 14oz ribeye steak at Cimarron Steak house for only $12.99. That includes a baked potato, salad and toast. This isn't a paid plug btw.. Just good, cheap Oklahoma meat.

Any who, I arrive to see Kevyboy and Jahnbobz' cars (just what I wanted), punch in the garage code, creeped quietly with my ninja like skills to the door, and open up to see no one in the living room. Hmm. that's interesting... I resume my creeper status to Jahn's room and say "Oo Oo! (mine and Jahn's thing)" And this is what I get.. A long, quiet stare from the both of them that literally lasted maybe 10 seconds, followed by a simultaneous, breathless shouting of "WHAT THE FUCK!! HOLY SHIT!! NO WAY!! WHAT THE CRAP!!! YOU LIAR!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!?! WHAAAAAAT!!?!? DUDE!!! Got called a liar because I told Kevy I was on my way to Seattle that day. I guess they didn't know I was coming?? Hahaha. They were so surprised. Made my day to be welcomed back home with love. But... I thought too soon.. They followed up with an: "okay give us 20 more minutes, we are almost done with Star Craft." WTF? Picture Kevyboy on the floor with his laptop on a ghetto rigged desk made out of a box and sitting behind Jahn at a real desk playing SC2 together. Not loved after all, right? Following this we make a trip to In the Raw so that I can surprise roomie Cody, DrewJones and the crew. The faces on everyone was priceless, DrewJones stopped rolling to come give me a hug and upon seeing me, my general manager hugged the feces out of me and started crying her eyes out. Mission 2 was a success. I had many, many drinks to celebrate my brief return.

The next few days were a drunken blur. We did our thing and lived life like I never left. L2, ITR, spaghetti (for Kevy, which I burned because I was drunk when making it but they all still ate it. Kevy claims to have eaten 6 portions of it one night after I had returned home to PDX), drunken nights at home, dabbled in some murder, a little bit of jerking and the dougie, and the usual funzies we like to partake in. And I'm off to Portland again after JahnBobz, Lez and I dined on some catfish at the Steak and Catfish Barn where Man Vs. Food conquered 29 pieces of catfish. We barely put a dent in our 5 piece. We ate two at most. I wanted to make another surprise visit the next week for DrewJones' surprise bday party but my pockets were dry.

I'm back in the green, mountainous, cool climate state of Oregon again. I've been working a crap ton as usual. Had an informational interview with Wieden+Kennedy, spoke with a freelancer in Portland who may have a job for me soon I hope and now I have another gig for a new west coast blog I will be designing for a friend. I've also been hanging with a special someone... This is a cliffhanger btw.. You can't find out who it is until I'm ready to let you know.. Gotta keep this intense and interesting right? But I'm sure a few of you may already know. Things are looking good though. I like this girl. A lot.. Oo! Oo!

I really haven't even left OK though. I feel right at home since I've been skyping and iChating with Kevy, Jahn and Cody nearly every night. Has anyone ever played Power Hour on skype with people in 3 different locations? Well, we have and it was a ton of fun. Well, I believe that is it for now. I will be returning to OK for 6 weeks on September 4th to make it just in time for OU Football game number one, labor day and most importantly my birthday. A quarter of a century old!! I will resume my position as DJ Sashimi at ITR on September 7th and ending it officially on October 14th (may be sooner if I am offered a position in PDX). So come get your Prince, Princess, Manhattan, C-4, Sunrise, and any chef choices you are in dire need of. I miss you all and will miss you even more when I am gone. Love you all much and see you soon! We will have the HAPS part Trois up soon but for now enjoy the photo dump... -Cheff Jeff

Cheff Jeff at WASSABI Portland

YO YO YO!!! What it do my Oklahomies,Nompton brotatoes, and all you visitors to our blog?! Well, here's an update of my life. Two days before I return home from South Africa I get a phone call from a strange number with the area code 503 (Portland). It turns out to be my aunt and she has never called me before. I call her back and she asks me to fly out to Portland, Oregon to help her out at her new restaurant, which just opened up in April.. It's called Wassabi (www.wassabipdx.com). I was hesitant at first and told her I'd have to sleep on it and call her back when I got into the states. I woke up the next day and decided that this was a chance to get out of Oklahoma for awhile. Five days after coming home from South Africa, I am back on a plane to Portland. Trust me... I'm and sick and tired of flying now. What a drag...

I get into Portland and settle into my apartment, which is extremely bare and lonely. All I had was a bed and a night stand and a worthless, crap lamp that probably wouldn't even illuminate a 2x2 feet coat closet. I was without cable and internet there for over a week. I went from my BMW to a 10-speed bicycle. What did I get myself into?? BUT.... I do move into my aunt's place today to house and dog sit while she is gone on vacation for two months. I'll have two yorkies as my friends, Smokie and Bandit, and yes they fit their names very well... Bandit is a mischievous dog... I'll finally have cable, internet, a car, some FOOD, and... a HOT TUB!!

Not only have I been deprived of the necessities in life that make a human happy... I've been at work at the restaurant for the past nine days working from 10:30-10:30. When am I going to get a day off? Who knows.. I'm the only chef and my uncle is still on his drive back from Oklahoma. Restaurant is pretty cool and modern. We have 13 total flat screens and a projector. One of which is for the employees in the kitchen.. They are very spoiled. We show a movie every Wednesday and have popcorn. We have 14 awesome beers on tap too. Anyway, I do have to say that I work with a great staff- Brandon, Ian, Sam, Lace, Bri, Natalie, Sherry, James and the family. It's so laid back and easy. I'm on my computer 24/7, reading, flirting, watching Entourage or whatever is on tv. I went to a Blues festival in downtown with a girl from work last week. The blues dancing was a bit more difficult than I thought and probably not something I could see myself doing on a regular basis but I would definitely give it another try.

Fourth of July... I actually had to work but we closed super early because it was so dead. Closed up shop at 6 and pigged out on the patio during the employee potluck and had all you can drink draft beers. Any 14 that you wanted to try. After that, my aunt and uncle decide to make a last minute, spontaneous drive to the beach house, which is only an hour and a half away, to surprise the rest of the family that is out there. The place is beautiful!!! I'll snap shots of the place the next time I head there. As we are almost pulling in, one of my uncles text me and says "Happy 4th of July! Too bad you're working at Wassabi." Perfect timing right? He was damn surprised when I got there. It was great to see his face. Had some beers and food with the family then we headed to the casino where I lost $40 of my aunts money on the penny slots... Don't ask me how. the next morning we wake at 8 and head back to work.. That's the end of that. Boredom resumes..

Next weekend, i head to Portland's International beer festival for free beer, thanks to my uncle.. The weekend after that I'll head to the 23rd Annual Oregon Beer Festival of all the microbreweries.. I'll be sure to update photos from there.. My youngest sister flies in on the 20th and the older one flies in on the 25th.. Will be great to see them.. All of the grandchildren from all of my grandparent's 11 kids will be here.. I think there are 16 or 17 of us. HUGE FAMILY! Brotato John Bobz is planning on coming up in a couple of weeks.. I hope he does.. I miss that ninjer. B-Ren is also making a road trip up here in August.. Will be nice to see him as well. Well, that's all I have at the moment.. Here are photos of the restaurant!!! Oh, the PRINCE and MANHATTAN rolls have made their debut and they are a hit!! I don't know when I'll be back in Nompton.. Probably the first week of September.. I miss you all. I'm so home sick.. Bye.

We have a tv in the kitchen so that the chefs and servers can watch basketball and soccer.

My mom and sisters sent me this photo on the 4th of July.. How sweet! :)

14 beers on tap and I think 4 of them are Oregon microbreweries.

Before this was labeled, two of my uncles thought this pitcher was Vietnamese coffee. They poured themselves a cup and added cream.. Turns out it was soy sauce and they didn't realize it until they took huge gulps on their drive home. hahahaha

PRINCE and MANHATTAN make the debut!

We have an employee computer for Facebook or whatever in the employee break room. Spoiled much?
